What Website Traffic Analysis does
As described by Serviceplan Group, the maker of this listing.
Description
Estimate how much traffic your competitors get, where it comes from, and how engaged their visitors are. All figures are modeled estimates, not actual analytics — exact traffic data is proprietary to site owners. Combines two data sources simultaneously to cross-validate estimates and flag discrepancies. Use it to benchmark competitors' digital presence, validate channel strategy, or size up a market before entry.
Core Capabilities
- Bulk analysis: up to 10 domains in parallel in a single run
- Traffic volume comparison: total visits per domain with 3-month trend
- Traffic source breakdown: direct, search, social, referral, and mail as percentages. Note: "search" combines organic + paid; the split is not reliably available
- Engagement metrics: bounce rate, pages per visit, average session duration
- Geographic distribution: country-level traffic share for each domain
- Supplementary SEO context: domain rating, backlink counts, referring domains — for understanding organic strength, not for keyword-level analysis
- Top organic keywords per domain: high-level keyword landscape, not full SERP position tracking
- Data reconciliation: when organic traffic estimates diverge >30% between sources, both values are flagged
Good Query Examples
- Domains: "revolut.com" | Country: gb | Analysis Goal: "Break down Revolut's traffic sources and engagement metrics" → single domain deep-dive
- Domains: "nike.com, adidas.com, puma.com, underarmour.com, newbalance.com" | Country: us | Analysis Goal: "Compare traffic sources to understand where competitors acquire users" → multi-domain competitive benchmarking
- Domains: "zalando.de, aboutyou.de, otto.de" | Country: de → country-specific analysis with .de domains
- Domains: "nytimes.com, washingtonpost.com, theguardian.com, bbc.com" | all other fields at defaults → no specific goal — produces comprehensive report covering all metrics
Bad Query Examples
- Analysis Goal: "Find the top competitors of nike.com" → the plugin does not discover competitors. You must provide the domains to analyze. Fix: list specific competitor domains in the Domains field
- Domains: "nike.com/running/shoes" → data is domain-level only, not page-level. The entire domain (nike.com) will be analyzed regardless of the path. Fix: enter root domains
- Analysis Goal: "How much are these brands spending on paid search ads?" → no paid ad spend or campaign-level data. The search channel combines organic + paid as a single percentage. Fix: use ad platform tools for paid media analysis
- Analysis Goal: "What age groups visit these websites?" → no audience demographics. Fix: use GWI Spark for consumer demographics and media behavior
Use-Case Ideas
- Competitive benchmarking — compare traffic volumes and sources for top 5-10 competitors
- Channel strategy — identify which traffic channels competitors rely on most to inform your own mix
- Market entry research — assess the digital presence of incumbents before entering a market
- Geographic reach — understand where competitors get their traffic from (country-level)
Limitations
- Domain-level only — all data reflects the entire domain, not specific pages or URL paths
- Modeled estimates — traffic figures are modeled from panel data, not actual analytics. Treat as directional indicators
- Search channel = organic + paid combined — the split between organic and paid search traffic is not reliably available. Refer to the Organic Keyword Landscape section for an organic-specific view
- Small sites may have limited data — domains with <500 monthly visits may return incomplete engagement metrics. Very small domains are recovered via a second pass but may lack session duration data
- No audience demographics — no age, gender, or interest data. Use GWI Spark for consumer profiling
- No per-platform social breakdown — social traffic is an aggregate percentage, not split by Facebook/Instagram/TikTok/etc.
- Global vs. country domains may diverge — a .com domain and a country-specific .de domain have different organic traffic scopes. The report flags divergences >30% with explanations

Disambiguation Signals
This agent estimates website traffic volumes and sources across multiple domains. It is traffic-first and quantitative — "How much traffic do these competitors get, from which channels, and in which countries?"
It does NOT do keyword-level SERP analysis, content gap detection, or AI/LLM visibility — those are separate tools:
- Route to Page Ranking Insights when: the user wants to know what specific keywords a page ranks for, find content gaps, or detect cannibalization. Page Ranking Insights is URL-first and SERP-focused (up to 20 URLs, narrative markdown report). Website Traffic Analysis has no SERP keyword positions — only high-level top keywords
- Route to SEO & GEO Researcher when: the user wants full keyword clustering, keyword-level competitive analysis across hundreds of pages, AI/ChatGPT visibility, or Excel deliverables. SEO & GEO Researcher is the full-powered SEO tool. Website Traffic Analysis only provides supplementary domain-level SEO authority (DR, backlinks), not keyword-level analysis
- Route to Google Maps Intelligence when: the user wants location-based competitive intelligence (ratings, reviews, peak hours, geographic presence)
- Route to GWI Spark when: the user wants consumer audience data — demographics, media behavior, purchase intent
- Route to Statista when: the user wants published market size statistics, industry forecasts, or research data
