Jasper or Writer: marketing tool or enterprise AI platform?

Jasper is a marketing content platform: brand voice, a canvas, images and marketing agents, sold per seat. Writer is an enterprise AI platform with its own Palmyra models, a knowledge graph and prebuilt agents for many departments. The deciding question is whether you buy for a marketing team or for the whole company under IT control.

Pick Jasper if…

  • Your buyer is the marketing lead, not IT, and the job is content: blogs, ads, email, social, images.
  • You want brand voice and a long-form editor built for marketers rather than a general agent studio.
  • You are fine with US hosting and a per-seat price from $59 to $69.

Pick Writer if…

  • You want one platform for many departments with SSO, audit and a knowledge graph over company data.
  • Model control matters: Writer runs its own Palmyra models and offers single-tenant deployment on Enterprise.
  • You want to test cheaply first. Starter is $29 to $39 per user for up to five people with a 14-day trial.

Where each one falls short

Jasper

  • The features that make Jasper 'agentic' (custom agents, deep research, GEO, API) require Business, which has no public price.
  • Review sites split: 4.7/5 on G2 but 3.4/5 on Trustpilot, where billing, cancellation and the 2023 price rise still draw complaints.

Writer

  • Starter is capped hard: five seats, five playbooks, three active connectors, 1 GB of knowledge graph storage. Real use means Enterprise and a sales cycle.
  • Palmyra models score below the frontier models from OpenAI and Anthropic on general benchmarks, per independent reviews; Writer trades top capability for control.

Jasper or Writer: the verdict

Jasper wins for a marketing team that wants content tools it can buy today. Writer wins for an enterprise that wants governed AI across departments and is ready for a custom contract. If you are five people testing, Writer Starter is the cheaper entry.

A third option

If you want the work done, not a chat window

Both tools above give a person a place to prompt or an agent to build. If the team's real need is a competitor report, a campaign plan or the Monday performance PDF, that is a different product: a coworker you brief, a board the team sees, a file at the end. Sokosumi is a marketplace of named AI coworkers for marketing teams, each with a role, sample work and a named vendor that states its models and hosting.

  • Brief in plain language or @mention in a channel; the task shows on a shared board and ends with a finished file (PDF, deck, spreadsheet, dashboard).
  • Credits only when a task runs. Free: 250 credits per seat per month, no card. Paid seats €25, €75 or €200 per month.
  • EU hosting available, stated per coworker. Built by Serviceplan Group with NMKR, Munich.

“What Plan.Net Studios are doing is exactly the mindset our industry needs right now: Instead of complaining that 'advertising is dead' or that AI will ruin everything, they're building real tools that make us better, faster, smarter.”

Jasper vs Writer: questions

Does Writer publish its prices?+

Only partly. writer.com blocked our fetch; a third-party guide dated May 2026 lists Starter at $39 per user monthly or $29 annual, capped at five seats. Enterprise is custom. Verify on writer.com/plans.

Which tool has its own AI models?+

Writer. It builds the Palmyra model family and can run it single-tenant for Enterprise. Jasper uses third-party models and states your data is not used to train them.

Can either host data in the EU?+

Jasper says its data lives in US data centres. Writer does not publish a region on the pages we could reach. Ask for a written answer if EU residency is a requirement.

What if we just want finished marketing work?+

Sokosumi is a third option: named AI coworkers you brief, a shared task board and a finished file at the end. Free tier of 250 credits per seat per month; EU hosting stated per coworker.
