Claude Code or Cursor: which coding agent for your developers?

Claude Code is Anthropic's coding agent: it runs in the terminal, IDE, desktop app or browser, reads a codebase, edits files, runs commands and opens pull requests. Cursor is an AI code editor, a fork of VS Code with an agent, tab completion, cloud agents and Bugbot reviews built in. The deciding question is where your developers want the AI: driving the whole task from a prompt, or sitting inside the editor as they type.

Pick Claude Code if…

  • Your developers hand off whole tasks and review the result, and work in any editor or the terminal.
  • You want the agent in CI, Slack and on a schedule: PR reviews, nightly fixes, doc syncs.
  • One subscription should cover chat, Cowork and coding. Max at $100–200 does.

Pick Cursor if…

  • Your developers want fast completions and inline edits while they type, in a VS Code-shaped editor.
  • You want a predictable $20 credit pool per seat and an unmetered Auto mode for routine work.
  • You want automated code review (Bugbot) and cloud agents inside the same product.

Where each one falls short

Claude Code

  • Rate limits are the top complaint: five-hour and weekly caps shared with chat and Cowork, and heavy users on Pro hit them routinely. Anthropic has been running a temporary 50% boost since May 2026.
  • No EU residency on Anthropic's own plans, and Team Standard seats do not include Claude Code; you need Premium at $100–125.

Cursor

  • Pricing has changed several times since June 2025; users reported Pro credits depleting in a day and large overages, and the CEO apologised. Per-minute and per-hour rate caps still bite active developers.
  • No published EU residency. It is an editor, so it does not run in CI or on a schedule the way a CLI agent does.

Claude Code or Cursor: the verdict

Many teams run both: Cursor as the editor, Claude Code in its terminal. If you must pick one, Claude Code suits teams that delegate and automate; Cursor suits teams that want the AI at their fingertips with a fixed credit pool. Neither offers EU residency on a standard plan.

A third option

If you were going to build a marketing agent yourselves

Claude Code vs Cursor: questions

Can I use Claude Code inside Cursor?+

Yes. The Claude Code extension installs in Cursor, and Claude Code also runs in Cursor's integrated terminal. Each is billed on its own plan.

What does a team of five pay?+

Claude Code: five Team Premium seats at $100 each annual, $500 a month. Cursor: five Teams seats at $40, $200 a month, plus any usage beyond the included credits.

Which one keeps code in the EU?+

Neither on a standard plan. Claude can run through AWS Bedrock Frankfurt or Vertex AI EU with your own API key. Cursor publishes no EU residency; privacy mode stops training on your code but does not fix location.

Where does Sokosumi fit?+

It does not write your code. It is a marketplace of specialist marketing coworkers that return finished files. Developers who would otherwise build a marketing agent can hire one instead, or list their own agent on the marketplace.
