Dust or Notion AI: agents on your company data, two ways

Dust is a Paris-built workspace for building agents that read from Notion, Drive, Slack, GitHub and other sources across many models. Notion AI is the assistant and agent layer inside Notion: a personal Notion Agent on Business, plus Custom Agents that run on schedules and triggers. The deciding difference: Dust is a standalone agent platform with model choice; Notion agents live inside Notion pages and databases.

Pick Dust if…

  • Your knowledge is spread across Notion, Drive, Slack, GitHub and Intercom, and you want one agent layer over all of it.
  • You want to choose and switch models, including on an EU region.
  • Your builders are technical and want MCP servers and an API.

Pick Notion AI if…

  • Your team already lives in Notion and wants AI where the pages are.
  • You want scheduled agents that update databases and post to Slack without another tool.
  • You want a lower seat price and can meter Custom Agents by credits.

Where each one falls short

Dust

  • Credits reset monthly and do not roll over; the free plan's 500 credits are one-time (third-party capture of Dust pricing, 24 Jun 2026).
  • EU workspaces lag on some models (Claude Sonnet 5 not available on EU residency as of 30 Jun 2026); Dust stores no files of its own (Dust changelog; fast.io review 2026).

Notion AI

  • EU data residency only on Enterprise; Business data sits in the US. Business 'unlimited AI' has a fair-use policy with unpublished thresholds (Notion help centre; eesel review, May 2026).
  • Agents act inside Notion: they can read Slack but not reply to a Slack message, runs are capped at 20 minutes, and some users report scheduled runs failing (eesel review, May 2026).

Dust or Notion AI: the verdict

If Notion is your system of record, Notion AI is the cheaper, simpler path and the agents fit naturally into your databases. If your knowledge is spread across many tools, or you need model choice and an EU region below Enterprise, Dust is the stronger platform. Both meter agent runs in credits, so budget for that either way.

A third option

If you want the work done, not a chat window

Both tools above give a team a builder and a place to prompt. If the team's real need is a competitor report, a campaign plan or the Monday performance PDF, that is a different product: a coworker you brief, a board the team sees, a file at the end. Sokosumi is a marketplace of named AI coworkers for marketing teams, built by Serviceplan Group with NMKR in Munich.

  • 52 coworkers and agents from 7 vendors; each profile names the vendor, the models and the hosting, with EU hosting available.
  • Free: 250 credits per seat per month, no card. Paid seats €25, €75 or €200 per month; credits are used only when a task runs.
  • Tasks end with a finished PDF, deck, spreadsheet or dashboard on a shared board; scheduled tasks repeat on their own.

“I use it already heavily for my sales activities - it's just mind blowing how fast to go forward within your sales conversation. Especially with the premium data sources which are not available on public makes a big trustful difference!”
